Partnership Africa Canada (PAC) is a coalition of Canadian and African NGOs working together on issues of human rights, human security and sustainable development. In collaboration with its members and other organizations, PAC undertakes research and policy dialogue initiatives on issues affecting Africa.
Objectives
Partnership Africa Canada works to:
- help its African and Canadian members strengthen their skills in the area of policy and advocacy relating to issues of sustainable human development in sub-Saharan Africa.
- promote, among African, Canadian and international decision-makers, the adoption and implementation of policies that foster sustainable human development in sub-Saharan Africa.
- promote greater understanding of, and commitment to, sustainable human development in sub-Saharan Africa, among both Canadian and African publics.
History
Partnership Africa Canada (PAC) was created in 1986 with the support of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and Canadian and African non-governmental organizations (NGOs). PAC funded hundreds of innovative projects that supported sustainable development in sub-Saharan Africa. In 1996, PAC changed its mandate to focus on policy work.
