    The African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD)
    Location: Durban, South Africa Focus: An international civil-society organisation working throughout Africa to bring appropriate African solutions to the challenges posed by conflict on our continent.

    African Forum and Network on Debt and Development (AFRODAD)
    Location: Harare, Zimbabwe Focus: A civil society organisation born of a desire to see lasting solutions to Africa�s mounting debt problem and its negative impact on development.

    African Social Forum
    Focus: An open meeting place where social movements, organizations and institutions representing African civil society debate the impact of certain major trends of the neo-liberal order on the African populations; formulate alternatives on political, economic, social and cultural matters together, while strengthening the African social movement and consolidating, through their contributions, the world social movement.

    AFRICASO
    Location: Dakar, Senegal Focus: The African Regional Secretariat of ICASO - International Council of AIDS Service Organizations.

    AfroNET
    Location: Lusaka, Zambia Focus: The Inter-African Network for Human Rights and Development undertakes research, education and networking for the enhancement of human rights, accountable government and development in Africa.

    CODESRIA
    Location: Dakar, Senegal Focus: The Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA) facilitates research, promotes research-based publishing and creates multiple fora geared towards the exchange of views and information among African researchers.

    ENDA
    Location: Dakar, Senegal Focus: Environment and Development Action in the Third World (ENDA-TM)collaborates with grassroots groups in search of alternative development models on the basis of the experience, expectations and objectives of marginalised peoples.

    FEMNET
    Location: Nairobi, Kenya Focus: A network to share information, experiences, ideas and strategies among African women's non-governmental organisations (NGOs) through communications, networking, training and advocacy so as to advance women's development, equality and other women's human rights in Africa.

    International Confederation of Free Trade Unions, African Regional Organisation (ICFTU-AFRO)
    Location: Nairobi, Kenya Focus: A confederation of national trade union affiliates with member organizations throughout Africa.

    Third World Network
    Location: Accra, Ghana Focus: An NGO which carries out research and advocacy on issues of social and economic policy that advances the needs and interests of peoples of African and other third world countries (especially marginalized social groups), a fair distribution of world's resources, and forms of development which are sustainable and fulfil human needs.

    African Union
    Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Focus: The African Union, formerly the Organization of African Unity, is Africa�s premier institution and principal organization for the promotion of accelerated socio-economic integration of the continent, which will lead to greater unity and solidarity between African countries and peoples.

    African Development Bank
    Location: Abidjan, C�te d'Ivoire Focus: The African Development Bank is the premier financial development institution of Africa, dedicated to combating poverty and improving the lives of people of the continent and engaged in the task of mobilising resources towards the economic and social progress of its Regional Member Countries. The ADB has been temporarily relocated to Tunis, Tunisia.

    Economic Commission for Africa
    Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Focus: ECA is the regional arm of the United Nations, mandated to support the economic and social development of its 53 member States, foster regional integration, and promote international cooperation for Africa�s development.

    NEPAD Secretariat
    Location: South Africa Focus: Inter-governmental Secretariat providing coordination and information about the NEPAD initiative.
